Find your way out of the backrooms

Backrooms Doors is a premium first-person horror game by wombat games. On paper, the premise is simple: Explore every nook and cranny of the backrooms and make it out alive. In reality, though, your journey will not be easy as you need to find items while running away from the strange creatures lurking within your surroundings.

Not to mention, the areas are designed like labyrinths, which adds to the challenge and thrill of escaping from the backrooms. The Backrooms Doors is a short horror title. Even so, its immersive, adrenaline-pumping gameplay is enough to keep you hooked.

Keeps you on edge

Many video games—such as Escape the Backrooms and Backrooms of Reality—have taken inspiration from The Backrooms creepypasta on 4Chan, an imageboard website. In Backrooms Doors, you have to find your way out of a level by walking through eerie corridors and rooms and opening foreboding doors. What’s behind those doors is a complete mystery, so the least you can do is cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Since it’s a horror game, do expect to find items while exploring the backrooms. The bolt cutter, for example, is used for unchaining doors. Like the Resident Evil games, you can combine certain items to create new ones. Furthermore—given the limited inventory space—players are forced to manage their inventory. Of course, this title is not complete without an encounter or two with a sinister entity.

Thus, it’s best to keep your eyes and ears open for anything peculiar. If you come face-to-face with an entity, running away from it is your best course of action. The game also involves a bit of brainwork due to the puzzles, keeping the gameplay elements fun and intellectually challenging. Unfortunately, you can get stuck in the first room if the key you obtained does not appear in your inventory.

Short but engaging

Overall, Backrooms Doors is a challenging horror title for anyone who loves backroom-inspired games. The levels are labyrinthine and eerie, and the doors add an element of risk, mystery, and suspense. After all, you’ll never know what’s behind those doors unless you open them. There are puzzles to challenge your intellectual prowess, too. However, this title is short—which is a drawback for some players.
